A JMU grad, $1,500, and a wall of cards.
Bart Goldberg graduated James Madison in '91 with fifteen hundred dollars and a head full of baseball cards. He opened The Card Cellar that same year on Caroline Street and never closed the doors.
What started as cards became cards and comics. Then memorabilia. Then autographs. Then mini helmets, tiki totems, vintage signs, jewelry, weird gifts you can't find anywhere else.
Then last year Bart did the thing every kid in Fredericksburg has been waiting for: he wheeled in Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga, and a stack more. The Cellar isn't just a shop anymore. It's a place.
When you walk in, I want it to feel like 1991 in the best way. Same cardboard smell, same wax-pack feeling — plus the arcade I never got to put in back then.
